Paper: a third of charitable donations used for administration
Eesti Ekspress weekly writes that while the largest charitable organisations collected EUR 1.6 million on donations last year, they are spending about a third on administration costs.
For instance, SEB Heategevusfond collected 353,551 euros last year and declared 83,579 euros as its administration costs.
Tallinna Lastehaigla Toetusfond that collects donations for Tallinn Children's Hospital collected 323,000 euros and declared 110,000 euros as administration costs.
Tartu Ülikooli Kliinikumi Lastefond, the children's fund of the Tartu University Clinic, raised 266,661 euros and usd almost 100,000 for administration costs.
On a positive side, there is also one charitable foundation that has no administration costs: a fund established by Estonian Academician Mikhail Bronstein and his son who lives in Russia that raised 98,900 euros and divided the whole amount.
The fund's representative Natalja Kesler said that the fund has no employees and no costs. The fund supports the activities of a synagogue in Tallinn.
