The Christmas wish tree is made up of the dreams and wishes of children in shelters and substitute homes, sent to Santa Clause. To make sure that these do not just remain dreams, pick a gift from the Christmas tree and make a donation to the best of your ability.

We support the Family Help Centre in Pärnu

We signed a cooperation agreement with the Family Help Centre in Pärnu on 15 May 2007. The Charity Fund will donate 250,000 kroons in support of the various projects run by the shelter.

The fund will use the money to help organise hobby and leisure activities for the children and take them on trips to Vembu-Tembumaa, Tallinn Zoo and KuMu Art Museum in summer. Building a playground in the yard of the Family Help Centre will start in the beginning of summer.

Creative therapy groups for children will start working in the shelter in autumn and they will help the children to improve their social skills and to get to know themselves and their feelings.

Director of the Family Help Centre Irene Peterson says that cooperation makes it possible to respond to the children’s requests with “OK, this is a great idea, let’s do it!” instead of “We can’t afford it”. The director added: “It is similar to the situation where mum and dada have enough money to meet the primary demands of the family, but get a pay raise or a bonus that makes it possible to treat the family to something nice. Today is like the day we learned about a pay raise – it gave us so many positive emotions and we will be able to make some dreams come true.”
