The Christmas wish tree is made up of the dreams and wishes of children in shelters and substitute homes, sent to Santa Clause. To make sure that these do not just remain dreams, pick a gift from the Christmas tree and make a donation to the best of your ability.

Relationship training for shelter workers

In association with the Sina ja Mina Family Centre, the SEB Charity Fund has organised a four-day training course for shelter staff and social workers titled ‘Relationships around me and inside me’ for the second year running.

Workers from the Tartu Children’s Safe House, the Children’s Shelter of the Tallinn Children’s Home, the Tallinn Children’s Safe House and Kiikla Children’s Home took part in the event, which featured short lectures, discussions, group work, practical exercises and role play.

The training covered such subjects as how to set rules in a way that children will follow them and how to resolve conflict situations without resorting to authority measures and taught the participants assistance skills, active listening and self-assertion. At the end of the course the attendees said that putting what they had learnt into use would make it easier to get along with the children in their care, understand them and support their development.
